{"id":59,"date":"2013-09-26T13:22:35","date_gmt":"2013-09-26T13:22:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stinaandthewolf.net\/?p=59"},"modified":"2013-09-26T13:22:35","modified_gmt":"2013-09-26T13:22:35","slug":"hand-stitched-dalek-antennae","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stinaandthewolf.net\/?p=59","title":{"rendered":"Hand Stitched Dalek Antennae"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>After a brief break to\u00a0celebrate\u00a0the hallowed festival of Winterval, the team is now cranked up and is back up to speed producing film\u00a0related\u00a0stuff. \u00a0We now have 3 functioning facial capture systems with\u00a0accompanying\u00a0Velcro\u00a0straps and\u00a0expertly\u00a0sewed nylon strapping and have the talented Geoff\u00a0Samuels\u00a0doing\u00a0some\u00a0kind of magical giggery-pokery on\u00a0the\u00a0computer that will allow us to interpret the facial recordings into usable animation data. We&#8217;ve tested them all out on the actors, which went well once they had stopped laughing at the prospect of having hand\u00a0stitched\u00a0Darlek\u00a0antennae\u00a0strapped to the their fore-heads.<\/div>\n<div>We now have the\u00a0performance\u00a0capture session scheduled in for July &#8211; August, accompanied by\u00a0the\u00a0reassuring\u00a0knowledge that the planned 5 story university extension, \u00a0being\u00a0constructed\u00a0opposite the\u00a0motion capture studio, is well\u00a0behind\u00a0schedule; so we won&#8217;t have the expected sound track of pile driving steel\u00a0girders\u00a0while we try and capture our actors. \u00a0We have, however, discovered\u00a0that the university is keen to completely\u00a0replace\u00a0the air\u00a0conditioning\u00a0system in\u00a0the\u00a0mocap studio the month we are capturing the film data. This is in the\u00a0process\u00a0of being\u00a0forcefully\u00a0renegotiated. \u00a0Regarding\u00a0the\u00a0script we now have a solid first act blocked out on a scene by\u00a0scene\u00a0basis with the rest of the film tightly plotted, but without scene level detail. \u00a0We are confident\u00a0the\u00a0first draft will be finished by Easter and have\u00a0lined\u00a0up a collection of\u00a0notable\u00a0film\u00a0industry\u00a0gurus to give us feedback and help us iron out any loose\u00a0ends by the end of June.\u00a0\u00a0The work at FOAM is slowly cranking up to full production speed and we have a visual\u00a0research\u00a0trip to mount OMU in\u00a0the\u00a0Carpathian\u00a0mountains\u00a0planned for\u00a0the\u00a0Easter\u00a0holidays,\u00a0that should hopefully prove inspiring and\u00a0useful, so long as nobody strays from\u00a0the\u00a0path or develops a fondness for the cheap\u00a0Romanian\u00a0wine.
