So\u00a0the\u00a0film is staring to pick up pace with\u00a0the\u00a0pre-production now well under way. Some great new talent in\u00a0modelling\u00a0and environment areas with Harry Ellard already producing some\u00a0splendidly\u00a0dramatic\u00a0\u00a0work on the fluid dynamic\u00a0simulations. The script\u00a0revision\u00a0has started in\u00a0earnest with each\u00a0revision\u00a0bringing\u00a0the themes and characters sharper into focus. The\u00a0addition of Graeme Herwig as script supervisor has provided a much needed check and balance to my story telling skills and has already added a tremendous amount to the\u00a0narrative\u00a0structure and focus. \u00a0We now have\u00a0some\u00a0storyboard animatics and it’s very exciting to see the first glimpses of the music working with the narrative.<\/p>\n
We had our first round of auditions\u00a0yesterday\u00a0and\u00a0the\u00a0quality was\u00a0frighteningly\u00a0high, well beyond what we were expecting. Which is going to make\u00a0choosing\u00a0the final performers a real challenge.<\/p>\n
The main\u00a0character\u00a0model is nearing completion with the facial\u00a0animation\u00a0system now\u00a0reaching\u00a0a somewhat ludicrous level of complexity (i just hope it\u00a0doesn’t\u00a0break as fixing it will be a project in its own right) But it\u00a0provides\u00a0the functionality to recreate some very subtle\u00a0performances;\u00a0useful\u00a0as we have a fair few close ups planned.\u00a0\u00a0The modelling of the final character has sent me\u00a0slightly\u00a0do-laly, as getting the specific age with its\u00a0request\u00a0subtle proportioning, keeping a certain look to the face and all\u00a0the\u00a0animation\u00a0controls\u00a0with\u00a0their deforming muscle volumes\u00a0has been a nightmare of balancing and\u00a0revision. Not to mention the accompanying sleep\u00a0deprivation. I start back at uni lecturing in 2 weeks (actually looking\u00a0forward\u00a0to a break from modelling!) so am trying to get\u00a0this\u00a0all done by then.<\/p>\n
We now have a fairly\u00a0smooth\u00a0mocap to rig pipeline worked out, although the cleaning of the motion capture could be fairly time consuming and we’re\u00a0looking\u00a0for help on this. We presently have about 10 people on the pre-production\u00a0team but will be slowly expanding to full\u00a0production\u00a0capacity\u00a0over the next 6 months. \u00a0All in all the project is going\u00a0swimmingly\u00a0but rather a lot left to do \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
